Alrighty!
Time to make up for lost time. Just realized how fast a day can go by before you know it. Anyways.
Will do Chapter 2 and 3 today since I missed 2 yesterday.
"...in whom the whole building, being fitted together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord,..." Eph 2:21
And I guess this is what the 40 days seem to be converging to, as the end of it draws ever so near. It's the realization that ultimately, there is something bigger than us, something with a much different sense of purpose. For we are all part of the family of God, growing together as one body in the Lord, towards the holiness that God has called us to be.
Again, I find myself fascinated by the fact that there exists this wonderful sense of belongingness, this sense of...family, that is really encouraging. Especially, I guess, in times of hardship. We know, then, that we are not alone - for we have God with us, and we have our fellow brothers and sisters in Christ with us, some of whom might be going through the same situation as ourselves.
Be it suffering or joy, there is a sense of peace and calm by knowing that you are sharing it with someone else. It might not be someone you know; that person might not know you in return, but regardless, you know that you're not the only one experiencing it. Perhaps that gives us hope, knowing there's someone out there in the darkness like you, clinging onto your candle, the only light you have.
When we succeed, there is someone there to give us a pat on the back; when we are in a rut, there is someone to egg us onwards; when we stumble and fall, there will be someone there to pick us up onto our feet; when we are lost and feeling the blues, there is someone to encourage us. This is what community is truly meant to be, I think. A Common Unity? What a beautiful phrase to behold.
"...from whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named..." Eph 3:15
We are all sons and daughters of the living God, and we are meant to take our Father's image. We will always fall short, but by grace we are still able to come to his throne room to worship, to call him Abba Father. Let us then not forget to be united in strength and spirit, even as we live out our own lives according to God's plan.
Prayer : Dear God, we come before You today not only as individuals, but as much more - as a body deeply rooted in You, a body that has chosen to surrender its all to You. Help us realize the importance of maintaining unity in a community, and teach us to love another, to forgive one another like You have forgave us. Thank You for today. Amen.
