Day #21

Halfway there!!!

And it seems I have skipped a chapter for some reason. Hmm. Oh well, chapter 6 today, chapter 5 tomorrow.

"...not with eye service, as men-pleasers, but as bondservants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart." Eph 6:6

Being planted by God, whilst doing all the tasks we are expected to do, we should always bear in mind that we are serving our Lord, and not men, for no man can serve two masters. Although yes we ARE serving man in a way, but it is ultimately God whom we are serving, and it is His will that we are doing, and it is God whom we have to focus on, even though we might, in actual fact, be working for someone else. Does that make sense?

"Knowing that whatever good anyone does, he will receive the same from the Lord, whether he is a slave or free." Eph 6:8

A fairly important verse. Reminds me of 'free from the yoke of bondage.'

"Stand fast therefore in the liberty by which Christ has made us free, and do not be entangled again with the yoke of bondage." Gal 5:1

Yes we were once sinners, but Christ has already redeemed us and broken the yoke of bondage by dying on the cross for us! Through God's grace we are no longer held captive in the land of bondage. Thus, we should not live as though we still were!

Hmm... Guess I'm getting a little sidetracked. Perhaps what Eph 6:8 was saying is that we are all held equal in God's sight, on the day of judgement. True, there will not be any 'I am better than you' in heaven. God rewards us according to the riches of His glory and the abundance of His grace, and not by whatever what we have done, we can do, or what we think we can do.

Therefore we should keep our minds firmly fixed on Christ, not on men, and most definitely not on ourselves.

Prayer : Father, yet another week has gone by, and I am still feeling lost at times. We pray You teach us to keep our eyes on You, even as we struggle and make our way through life, regardless of our circumstances and situations. Keep everyone back home safe too, bless them with Your peace and joy, especially grandma, who is having a rather difficult time right now with her stomach, and her memory - You know her situation Father, and we believe You know what is best for her. Watch over each and everyone of us. In Jesus' name we ask, Amen.
