Day #14

"Walk as children of the light... finding out what is acceptable to the Lord, and have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness..." Eph 5:8-11

Children of light gets me thinking. Hmmm.

To my knowledge, light :

a) Spreads itself out uniformly
b) Travels in a straight line
c) is clearly seen from afar (in fact, it is the reason we can even see to begin with)

So, in the same way, we, as children of the light, should we not bear the same characteristics as light? Spreading out regardless of background, experience and roots to bring the good news to everyone around us, bringing light to our situations and circumstances; Holding fast to what we believe in and what we are hopeful for, setting a straight path to our goals; and being in the Kingdom of God shouldn't be something we hoard in our hearts - a secret ritual practiced behind closed doors - but it should be everything we are, what we stand for, from what we think to what we say or do, the light of God should be clearly present.

"...speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord." Eph 5:19

What a beautiful expression of what being in the Kingdom of God should be like.

A place filled with worship - whether in the church together with the congregation on a Sunday, singing while in the shower, or humming to your song on your iPod, worship is like incense rising to the heavens - it pleases out Father, thus it pleases us too.

When is the last time you allowed yourself to sing freely and joyfully to the Lord? After all, God needs some enjoyment, too!

Prayer : Dear heavenly Father, I consecrate today, and every other day, for the rest of my life, as a sacrifice of praise to you Lord. We want to continue serving You and giving worship to Your name, singing praises and songs of joy and celebration, for indeed You are our Redeemer, who has set us free, free from bondage and free from a life of slavery. May Your be forever glorified and exalted in our hearts. Amen.
